Kyla Hamby drove in four runs on one hit to lead Mojo Sherrill 16U past Athletics Gold Tamborra 16U 9-8 on Wednesday. In the third inning, Hamby hit a grand slam to center field.
Despite falling down by six runs in the third inning, Athletics Gold Tamborra 16U tried to fight back. Athletics Gold Tamborra 16U closed the gap by scoring on a solo home run, a double, a single, and a home run.
Athletics Gold Tamborra 16U were the first to get on the board in the first when one run scored on another play.
Mojo Sherrill 16U jumped back into the lead in the bottom of the first inning after Jaycie Goad singled, Addyson Frye grounded out, and Natalie Johnson walked, each scoring one run.
Aubrey Moore hit a solo home run to left field in the top of the second for the Athletics Gold Tamborra 16U.
Mojo Sherrill 16U scored five runs on five hits in the bottom of the third inning. Johnson singled, scoring one run, and Hamby hit a grand slam to center field.
Athletics Gold Tamborra 16U scored six runs on six hits in the top of the fourth inning. Dawson Blue hit a solo home run to center field, Laci Martinez doubled, scoring one run, Kate Sarago singled, scoring one run, and Alexis Evans homered to center field, scoring three runs.
Bria Bosiljevac earned the win for Mojo Sherrill 16U. They gave up seven hits and eight runs over four innings, striking out seven and walking one. Moore took the loss for Athletics Gold Tamborra 16U. The starting pitcher went two and one-third innings, giving up eight runs (seven earned) on seven hits, striking out three and walking three.
Mojo Sherrill 16U tallied nine hits in the game. Ava Gundling led Mojo Sherrill 16U with three hits in three at bats from the leadoff position. Mojo Sherrill 16U were sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Johnson had the most chances in the field with seven.
Evans, the number eight hitter for Athletics Gold Tamborra 16U, led the way with three runs batted in. They went 1-for-2 on the day. Blue, Shea Chatham, Martinez, Moore, Sarago, Grace Welicky, and Evans each collected one hit for Athletics Gold Tamborra 16U.
